Fluororubber 246, commonly known as No. 3 glue in China and DuPont brand Viton B, is a terpolymer of vinylidene fluoride, tetrafluoroethylene and hexafluoropropylene. The fluorine content is higher than 26 glue and has good solvent resistance.
Fluororubber TP, commonly known as tetrapropylene rubber in China, Asahi saltpetre brand aflas, is a copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and hydrocarbon propylene, with superior water vapor and alkali resistance.
Vinylidene fluoride rubber, DuPont brand Viton GLT, is a quaternary copolymer of vinylidene fluoride, tetrafluoroethylene, perfluoromethylvinyl ether and vulcanization point monomer, with excellent low temperature performance.

Fluororubber is mainly used in automobile and motor vehicle industry. Because of its excellent high temperature resistance, oil resistance and medium resistance, it is mainly used as oil seal and O-ring.

Fluororubber has high chemical stability and is the best medium resistance among all elastomers. Type 26 fluororubber is resistant to petroleum based oil, double ester oil, silicone ether oil and silicic acid oil, inorganic acid, most organic and inorganic solvents and drugs, only low molecular ketones, ethers and esters, and amine, ammonia, hydrofluoric acid, chlorosulfonic acid and phosphoric acid hydraulic oil. The dielectric properties of type 23 fluoroadhesive are similar to those of type 26, and more unique. Its resistance to strong oxidizing inorganic acids such as fuming nitric acid and concentrated sulfuric acid is better than that of type 26. After immersion in 98% HNO3 at room temperature for 27 days, its volume expansion is only 13% ~ 15%.

The weather aging resistance and ozone resistance of type 23 fluororubber are also excellent.

Fluororubber has excellent physical and mechanical properties. The strength of type 23 fluororubber is 15.0 ~ 25MPa, the elongation is 200% ~ 600%, and the tear strength is 2 ~ 7MPa. Their service life can be the same as that of engine repair, up to 1000 ~ 5000 flight hours (5 ~ 10 years); When used in chemical industry, it can seal inorganic acids (such as 67% sulfuric acid at 140 ℃, 70% concentrated hydrochloric acid, 30% nitric acid), organic solvents (such as chlorinated hydrocarbons, benzene, high aromatic gasoline) and other organic substances (such as butadiene, styrene, propylene, phenol, fatty acids at 275 ℃); When used for deep well production, it can withstand the harsh working conditions of 149 ℃ and 420 atmospheres; When used for superheated steam seal, it can work in steam medium of 160 ~ 170 ℃ for a long time. In the production of monocrystalline silicon, fluororubber seals are commonly used to seal special media at high temperature (300 ℃) - trichlorosilane, silicon tetrachloride, gallium arsenide, phosphorus trichloride, trichloroethylene and 120 ℃ hydrochloric acid.

The hose made of fluororubber is suitable for high temperature, oil and special media, such as the transportation and guidance of aircraft fuel oil, hydraulic oil, synthetic diester oil, high temperature hot air, thermal inorganic and other special media (such as chlorinated hydrocarbons and other chlorides). The wires and cables made of fluororubber have good flexibility and good insulation. Glass fiber adhesive tape made of fluororubber can withstand high temperature of 300 ℃ and chemical corrosion. After the aramid cloth is coated with fluorine glue, it can be used to make the connecting expansion pipe between high-temperature, acid and alkali resistant storage tanks in petrochemical plant (both ends can be connected with metal flanges), which can withstand high pressure, high temperature and medium corrosion, and play the role of buffer and shock absorption connection for the deformation and expansion of the two tanks. Type 23 and tetrapropyl fluororubber are mainly used for acid resistant and corrosive sealing occasions resistant to special chemicals. The sealant putty made of fluororubber has outstanding fuel oil resistance and can be used in oil at about 200 ℃. It is used as the sealing material of aircraft integral oil tank. The closed cell sponge made of fluororubber has acid resistance, oil resistance, wide service temperature range and good insulation. It can be used as the sealing of rocket fuel, solvent, hydraulic oil, lubricating oil and ointment and the sealing of rocket and missile Shock absorbing material, asbestos fiber cloth impregnated with fluorine latex, can be made of asbestos rubber sheet at high temperature of 204 degrees. In order to improve the power of automobile engine, save fuel and ensure the safety of automobile driving, a new fuel injection system appears. In this system, the vehicle flows into the engine from the fuel tank and then returns to the fuel tank for circulation. The mixture of gasoline and oxygen will produce hydroperoxide. Gasoline containing hydrogen peroxide is called "acid gasoline", which can soften or harden a variety of hydrocarbon rubber. Fluororubber will not deteriorate due to contact with acid gasoline.
Countries all over the world formulate new environmental protection laws and regulations every year. The total hydrocarbon emission of automobile is increasingly restricted, and the automobile industry is more and more difficult to meet this requirement. In the United States, vehicles must pass the shed (sealed box evaporation measurement) test. Fluororubber has excellent barrier to the penetration of hydrocarbons (Table 1). Covering the fuel hose structure with fluororubber layer can reduce the penetration of hydrocarbons.
The products of automotive fuel system must function normally within the temperature range of - 40 ℃ ~ 150 ℃. However, the low temperature resistance of fluororubber deteriorates with the increase of fluorine content (the glass transition temperature increases). In order to manufacture products with normal performance at - 40 ℃, fluororubber products with poor cold resistance need to be improved. Nowadays, perfluoroether rubber has been developed and put on the market, which has effectively improved the low-temperature performance of fluororubber, but it is difficult to popularize it in large quantities due to the price problem.
The automotive industry pays close attention to the methanol conversion of fuel, and is eager to carry out the research on FFV (flexible fuel vehicle) that can adapt to any fuel, especially the FFV conversion of rubber parts. When methanol is mixed with gasoline, the volume swelling of fluororubber is about 10%. However, for methanol alone, the volume swelling of fluororubber varies greatly due to different fluorine content. When the fluorine content is high, there is almost no swelling, but with the decrease of fluorine content, the swelling becomes larger in the low temperature area, especially when the fluorine content is 66%, the volume swelling will increase significantly. It can be considered that the SP value of methanol conjugate produced by hydrogen bond at low temperature is close to that of polymer with fluorine content of 66%.
In a sense, fluororubber is also the product of growth with the progress and development of the times. Although the price of these materials is high, they have high practical value because of their excellent wear resistance, oil resistance and reliability. Therefore, it is not surprising that their dosage is gradually increasing. The development of fluoride still has great potential and possibility. It is expected to develop fluoropolymers with higher application value in the future.
Perfluorinated rubber
It is formed by polymerization of three or more fluororubber monomers, and all hydrogen atoms on the monomer are replaced by fluorine atoms. It has excellent high temperature hardening resistance, as well as the elasticity of rubber and the corrosion resistance of polytetrafluoroethylene. In the range of - 20f-615f, perfluoroether O-ring (seal), pull length and tightness are very good. Regardless of temperature, pressure, chemical corrosion or all the above related situations, our products can provide corresponding solutions to solve problems. Perfluoroether O-rings (seals) can resist the corrosion of most chemicals, including organic acids, inorganic acids, bases, ketones, alcohols, aldehydes and fuels. Therefore, perfluorinated O-rings (seals) can be used in most chemical and petrochemical processes for a long time. In other media where rubber will expand or fail. The O-ring (seal) will not expand or become fragile, but still maintain its original quality. The O-ring is easy to install, which is more suitable for incorrect installation than metal seals and will not cause wear. It is also different from PTFE seals, and there will be no "cold fluidity" or wear shaft.
